NAVY BAND CONCERT AT SOUTH CITY MALL AND RABINDRA SADAN, KOLKATA.
The origin of this magnificent Ensemble dates back to 1945 when it was formed with a handful of Naval Musicians. Since then, the Band has acquired national and global recognition in the nation and worldwide. The repertoire of the Band included Martial Music, Symphonies, Concertos, Indian Classical and other contemporary genres. The ‘Men in Whites’ enthralled the 900 strong Audience with their lilting tunes and patriotic fervour, blending melodies to intertwine the themes of _Swarnim Vijay Varsh_ and _Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav._ The Navy Band was conducted by Cdr Satish K Champion, an accomplished Musician. Shri HK Dwivedi, Chief Secretary to the Govt of West Bengal was the Chief Guest for the event, which was also attended by eminent Military and Civilian dignitaries. The melodies of the Naval Band transported the audience through time as songs of the 1971 war, of intertwined cultural legacies, and independent India, creating an ethereal ambience showcasing the Nation's rich Maritime Military Traditions.
The event reestablished a strong connection of the citizens of West Bengal with their Navy.
