The Trishakti Corps celebrated the International Women’s Day on 08 Mar 2022 at Sukna War Memorial.
The event witnessed the gracious presence of senior Army officers and a number of civil dignitaries. The highlight of the event was felicitation of Veer Naris and inauguration of a 72 ft National Flag. The event was a part of the grand celebration of ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’.
The International Women’s Day was celebrated as ‘Narishakti Tiranga Utsav’. 26 Veer Naris and widows were felicitated by Mrs Geeta Gopalkrishnan, Founder and managing Trustee of Ma foundation who is working with the ethos of ‘Giving with a Difference’ and Mrs Saswati Aich, Zonal President AWWA. Speaking on the occasion, Mrs Geeta Gopalkrishnan highlighted the contributions of women in building the society in general and the nation in particular.
The occasion was also marked by the inauguration of a 72 feet National Flag through the flag Foundation of India. Speaking on the occasion, Lt Gen TK Aich, AVSM, GOC 33 Corps brought out the evolution and relevance of the National Flag. The Chief Guest, Maj Gen Ashim Kohli, SM*(Retd), Vice President, Flag Foundation of India, in his address, stressed upon the aspects of national integration and motivation.
A large number of NCC cadets and school children in uniform participated in the event .The Sukna War Memorial area has recently been given a new facelift to consist of an informative museum, war trophies, historical equipment, a 72 feet National Flag, etc, which is open to public.
