FLOOD RELIEF OPERATIONS, HUMANE TOUCH, CARE AND COMPASSION, INDIAN ARMY RESCUEES THOUSANDS STRANDED DUE TO FLOODS IN VARIOUS PARTS OF ASSAM.

As heavy rains continued to lash the various parts of Assam, rivers  rising above dangerous levels causing floods and inundation across  rural and urban areas, the men in Uniform provide helping hand. Indian Army, always in the service for the Nation and its people,  is wholeheartedly involved in the Rescue and Relief operations in Hojai, Baksa, Nalbari, Barpeta, Darrang, Tamulpur and Kamrup rural districts of Assam by deploying  11 composite  columns at various locations. In the intense and difficult rescue operations in extreme conditions around 3000 stranded locals have been brought to safety.

    During the  flood rescue operations in Hojai, when rescue columns  arrived at the site, they found entire habitation completely submerged. Since then they are continuously carrying out rescue tasks on a war footing in worst affected areas of Radha Nagar, Komarkata, Doboka and Hojai Circle of  Hojai district, Assam, thereby saving thousands of  lives including children, women and elderly people. There were people who were stuck on a log for 12 hours were rescued,  then there was a lady with one month old child who was brought to safety with compassion  and care. 

    Kamrup Rural district had a different story to tell where the Indian Army swiftly responded to a distress call and rescued  136 locals from Kaalajal village . Simultaneously operations continued in the village of Katalmora of Nalbari district where 36 locals were rescued. On the night of 17/18 June the  Indian Army columns on standby at Tamulpur moved quickly and rescued stranded people at Dakhin Gandhibari. 

     Indian Army  ensured all assistance  and gave its commitment to rescue the people of the Nation till the fury of floods reduces and situation stabilizes.

Indian Air Force (IAF) is conducting flood relief operations in Assam and Meghalaya states in the northeast of India since 21 June 2022. 

Since then, IAF has flown around 74 missions, rescued 253 stranded persons and dropped more than 200 tonnes of relief material as part of the humanitarian assistance and disaster relief operation, conducted in aid to the civil administration of the affected areas. 
IAF has deployed C-130J Super Hercules, An-32 transport aircraft, Mi-17V5 helicopters, Advanced Light Helicopters (ALH) Dhruv and Mi-17 helicopters to provide relief aid and supplies to the people stranded in these areas. Operations are under progress in coordination with the civil administration.
