To commemorate 75 years of our Independence, the Kripan Warriors of the Trishakti Corps organised a mega boat race to inspire the youth of the Nation. The venue for the sporting event was the scenic Teesta Mahananda link canal which holds historical significance as the brave Trishakti Corps warriors marched forward through this corridor for the liberation of Bangladesh.
The spectacular event was witnessed by many high ranking officials of Indian Army, Indian Air Force, BSF, ITBP, SSB, CRPF and dignitaries from civil administration of North Bengal. Students from various schools and colleges also attended the function enthusiastically. This mega boat race saw zealous participation by teams from the Armed Forces, Central Armed Police Forces, NCC and local colleges as well as club teams from the region.
Lt Gen Tarun Kumar Aich, AVSM, GOC 33 Corps was the Chief Guest of the event. During his address, he paid rich tributes to the freedom fighters who sacrificed their lives for the Independence of our great Nation. He exhorted the youth to celebrate Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav as a festival and take pride in the Nation by participating in ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ initiative.
The event showcased the vibrant colours of the Nation through mesmerizing cultural performances representing the theme “Unity in Diversity”. The event was a befitting tribute to the brave hearts of Indian freedom struggle and an expression of synergy and commitment of the Indian Army, Central Armed Police Forces and civil administration in the service of the Nation.
