MAJ GEN VIVEK TYAGI ASSUMES ROLE AS ADDITIONAL DIRECTOR GENERAL OF NCC DIRECTORATE AT KOLKATA.
Kolkata, West Bengal - July 6, 2023 - The National Cadet Corps (NCC) Directorate at Kolkata witnessed a momentous change of leadership as Maj Gen Vivek Tyagi assumed the position of Additional Director General (ADG) for the West Bengal & Sikkim region, succeeding Maj Gen U S Sengupta. The formal handing/taking over ceremony took place on July 6, 2023, at the NCC Directorate headquarters in New Alipore Office,
Kolkata.
Maj Gen Vivek Tyagi brings with him a wealth of experience and expertise as an Infantry
Officer. Throughout his distinguished career, he has served in diverse terrains, gaining valuable operational knowledge. Notably, he has been involved in crucial counterterrorism operations and has served in challenging environments such as the Line of Control and high-altitude regions. Maj Gen Tyagi has held significant staff appointments and instructional tenures, including positions at the esteemed Indian Military Academy and The Infantry School.
Having previously commanded a multinational brigade in a United Nations mission and
having served as the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of an active division deployed in the western sector, Maj Gen Vivek Tyagi brings extensive leadership acumen to this
important role. His appointment as ADG underscores the NCC's commitment to
advancing its mission of contributing to nation-building through the development of young
cadets.
The NCC Directorate at Kolkata plays a crucial role in nurturing and guiding the youth of
