ADG, BSF, EASTERN COMMAND VISITS SUNDARBANS REGION AND BORDER OUTPOSTS AND REVIEWED OPERATIONAL PREPAREDNESS AT THE INDO-BANGLADESH BORDER.
North 24 Parganas District, March 21, 2024 - The Additional Director General of the Border Security Force (BSF), Eastern Command, Shri Ravi Gandhi, conducted a comprehensive review of operational preparedness in the Sundarbans region, ICP Petrapole and other border outposts at the Indo-Bangladesh border in West Bengal. Accompanied by IG, South Bengal Frontier, the ADG BSF visited the Floating BOPs Kaveri and land border outposts Shameshnagar, Hashnabad, Hingleganj, Haridaspur, Ranghat, Teela, Singamoura, and Chhotiya under the jurisdiction of the South Bengal frontier.
During the visit, Shri Ravi Gandhi, ADG, Eastern Command emphasized the critical importance of the Sundarbans region for border security and inspected the Floating Border Outposts (BOPs) of the BSF in the area. He was briefed by the Company commander about the area of responsibility, border peculiarities, possible smuggling/infiltration routes, and the preventive measures taken by the BSF.
In his interaction with the officers and jawans deployed in sensitive areas, Shri Ravi Gandhi ADG, Eastern Command expressed his appreciation for their relentless efforts and dedication in ensuring border security. He highlighted the challenges faced by the BSF personnel in safeguarding the international border and commended their unwavering commitment.
Shri Ravi Gandhi ADG, Eastern Command also visited the border outposts of Teela, Singamoura, and Chhotiya, where he was briefed by the Company commanders about the general security scenario and the specific measures undertaken by the BSF along the international border to counter cross-border crimes. He also inspected the international border areas without fencing and appreciated the efforts of officers and jawans in ensuring the security of the international border.
Furthermore, the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of the Sector Headquarter Krishnanagar briefed Shri Ravi Gandhi ADG, Eastern Command about the current situation of trans-border crimes and the efforts being made by the all unit officers and jawans to curb cross-border crimes. He was also briefed about the initiatives such as civic action programs and confidence-building measures undertaken by the Sector Headquarter Krishnanagar to instill a sense of security among the border population.
Shri Ravi Gandhi ADG, Eastern Command lauded the efforts and dedication of BSF personnel in ensuring border security and controlling border crimes. He emphasized the importance of maintaining peace on the border and urged BSF personnel to remain vigilant against trans-border criminals along the India-Bangladesh border.
