An army officer's wife is an efficient, talented, versatile, adaptable, creative, innovative, progressive, articulate, courageous person. A wife whom all outsiders look upon with great awe and admiration.

The day a lady gets married and joins the larger army family, she becomes a member of AWWA. It is an NGO that looks after the welfare and well being of army wives and families. Although it started as a yeoman effort, today the AWWA is one of the strongest pillars of the Indian Army.

The Eastern Command Army Wives Welfare Association (AWWA) celebrated the "ASMITA PURBA 2024" event at Fort William, Kolkata, on 06 July 2024. This event provided a platform for resilient Army Wives and Veer Naris to share their life experiences, striking an emotional chord with the entire AWWA fraternity and inspiring the ladies to continue being the 'Pillars of Strength' behind the men in Olive Greens.

The real-life sagas of courage and determination highlighted the challenges overcome by these remarkable women in different walks of life. Mrs. Gauri Tiwari, Regional President of Eastern Command AWWA, felicitated the participants on the eve of "ASMITA PURBA 2024” and recognised the efforts of our ladies who continue to shine and dawn a smile inspite of facing extreme 

challenges.
