Lt Gen Yash Ahlawat took over the command of Brahmastra Corps under Eastern Command from Lt Gen Rajeev Puri.



Lieutenant General Yash Ahlawat, AVSM, YSM, SM on 20 November 24  took over as General Officer Commanding of the elite Brahmastra Corps from Lieutenant General Rajeev Puri, AVSM, SM.

Lt Gen Yash Ahlawat, AVSM, YSM, SM was commissioned into 7 MADRAS in December 1990. An alumnus of Indian Military Academy Dehradun, the General Officer has attended the Command & Staff Course at Singapore , Higher Defence Management Course at College of Defence Management, Secunderabad and the National Defence Course at National Defence College, New Delhi during the course of his service.

In an illustrious career spanning over 34 years, the General officer has served in varied operational environment. His command assignments include command of  9 MADRAS (TRAVANCORE), Brigade and Divisional level formations along the Line of Control.

He has held important instructional and staff appointments including instructor at Indian Military Academy, Dehradun, Assistant Military Secretary at IHQ of MoD,  New Delhi, Colonel General Staff (Operations) in Kilo Force, Secretary  National Defence College, New Delhi and Major General General Staff (Operations) handling key operational aspects in Headquarters Northern Command.  He has also been Defence Attache (DA) with High Commission of India in Malaysia & Brunei.

The General Officer is a recipient of Ati Vishisht Seva Medal, Yudh Seva Medal and Sena Medal (Gallantry).
