Army personnel have been engaged to rescue nine labourers trapped inside a coal mine in Assam’s Dima Hasao district, officials said on Tuesday.
On being requisitioned for assistance Indian Army has mobilized a relief task force for rescuing the miners trapped in Umrangso, a remote industrial town in Dima Hasao district, Assam. The relief task force comprises of specialists like divers, sappers and other relevant personnel with necessary equipment. Senior officials of Indian Army will also be reaching the site to coordinate with civil administration for speedy rescue of the trapped miners.
Early in the morning, Relief columns of Indian Army have reached Umrangso, in Dima Hasao district, Assam to assist the civil administration in rescue of the trapped miners.
Specialists Divers, Engineers Task Force with equipment, Medical Team, support staff from Army and Assam Rifles have joined the rescue efforts and are preparing for the rescue operation.
All efforts are being made in conjunction with the civil administration.
