Indian Army estern command recognizes the sacrifices and hard work of its veterans and has constantly endeavoured to look after their welfare.
The 9th Tri Services Armed Forces Veterans’ Day was celebrated with traditional military fervour by Headquarters Eastern Command. This day is celebrated every year in recognition of the dedicated service and innumerable sacrifices rendered by the Veterans. The event was marked with a poignant wreath laying by Lt Gen Ram Chander Tiwari, UYSM, AVSM, SM, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Eastern Command, who paid homage to the bravehearts in a solemn ceremony at Vijay Smarak, Vijay Durg, Kolkata.
Air Chief Marshal Arup Raha (Retd), PVSM, AVSM, VM, ADC representing the esteemed veteran community, honoured the veterans from all the three services while he lay wreath at the Vijay Smarak.

Recognizing their invaluable contribution to Nation Building & honouring their sacrifices, the Indian Army has taken major steps aimed at addressing their needs and aspirations.
Accordingly, a Tri-services seminar was organised by the Eastern Command at Suryodaya Auditorium, Vijay Durg, Kolkata. Experts from various Government departments enlightened the Veterans about various welfare schemes and addressed their grievances. Special programmes including medical camps and awareness sessions on various initiatives to include job placement, skill development, education facilities, pension entitlements and other related issues to assist veterans are being conducted by Eastern Command at multiple Military Stations.
