MARITIME SEARCH AND RESCUE WORKSHOP AND TABLE TOP EXERCISEBY INDIAN COAST GUARD AT PARADIP ON 08-09 APR 25.

Headquarters No.7, Coast Guard District (Odisha) conducted a two days State Level Maritime Search and Rescue (M-SAR) Workshop on 08-09 Apr 25 for all Stakeholders in the State of Odisha. The workshop was attended by representatives of various agencies viz. Odisha State Disaster Management Authority (OSDMA), Port Authorities, Fisheries, CISF, Odisha State Police, Marine Police, Forest Department and private resource agencies of the State of Odisha.

Indian Coast Guard is the nodal agency in the country responsible for Executing/ 

Coordinating Search and Rescue (SAR) mission in the Indian Maritime Search and Rescue Region (ISRR). The workshop was aimed to review the SOPs, so as to improve coordination and enhance preparedness amongst the various agencies towards combating Maritime

Search and Rescue Missions. 

The workshop was inaugurated by DIG Sanjay Negi, Commander Coast Guard, 

Odisha. Speaking on the occasion, the Commander welcomed all participants and emphasized the need of such workshops for better knowhow on role, response and rescue capability of the Resource Agencies in the State of Odisha. Such workshops also assist in 

fostering optimum synergy to deliver collaborative efforts while combating Maritime SAR emergencies and in being well prepared to save any precious life and property at Sea. 

The first day of workshop included presentations and discussions on Maritime SAR, role, response and rescue capabilities and latest technological advancements of various resource and participating agencies. A Table Top Exercise was conducted on the second 

day for better appreciation of the Stakeholders on the planning and synergized efforts to execute Maritime Search and Rescue Operations.
